  • Since each piece at Salt and Soil is handmade and made to order, production times can vary. Typically, it takes about 1 week to craft your jewelry, but please note that sometimes I may need to wait for supplies to arrive, as I live on a small island. I always strive to ship your order as quickly as possible while maintaining the highest quality. Once your order is complete, you'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information. Thank you for your patience and understanding – I promise it will be worth the wait!

You can find more details about shipping options and times on our shipping page.

  • At Salt and Soil, I use high-quality 14k gold-filled materials for all of my jewelry. Gold-filled is a durable, long-lasting alternative to solid gold, with a thick layer of real gold that is bonded to a base metal. Unlike gold plating, gold-filled jewelry won’t easily tarnish, chip, or fade, and with proper care, it can last for many many years. It’s also great for those with sensitive skin, as it's hypoallergenic. To keep your pieces looking beautiful, simply avoid prolonged exposure to water, lotions, and perfumes. Normal water exposure won't tarnish your jewelry.

  • To keep your gold-filled jewelry looking beautiful and lasting for years to come, follow these simple care tips:

    1. Avoid Exposure to Chemicals: Keep your jewelry away from harsh chemicals, including perfumes, lotions, and cleaning products. These can cause tarnishing and damage the finish. This is a great rule of thumb for all jewelry of any metal.

    2. Clean Gently: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your jewelry regularly. This removes oils and dirt, helping maintain its shine.

    3. Limit Water Exposure: While gold-filled jewelry is more resistant to tarnishing than other metals, it’s best to avoid prolonged exposure to water. Take off your jewelry before swimming, showering, or exercising. I wear mine in the ocean, contrary to expert advice, and have never had an issue, but it’s best to care for them than not.

    4. Remove Before Bed: To prevent any accidental damage, remove your jewelry before sleeping.

    5. Handle with Care: Avoid dropping or hitting your jewelry against hard surfaces, as this can cause dents or scratches.

By following these simple steps, you can enjoy your gold-filled jewelry for many years, keeping it as radiant as the day you got it!
